BAS Property Consultants Ltd undertook a Building Survey of one of the most historically important buildings located in Wareham. A Grade II Listed former church, thought to date from 1876, it was built to primarily accommodate an organ commissioned by Miles Rodgett of Sandford House, which formed part of the Sandford Estate that he purchased in 1863. The building was known to be for the use of his family but also as a local community centre serving as a chapel, a school room and music room. During the 1960’s a new school was built immediately to the south west side of the building and adjoined it via the church hall. This later section has since been demolished with the flank side of the building returned to its original built form and the exterior restored as part of a new Care Home development located within the site. Our Building Survey involved a review images of the roofs by drone (commissioned separately by the client), a comprehensive appraisal of the local historic information available for the site and a technical assessment of both new and old construction materials and their current condition. Our Building Survey assisted the client in making an informed decision regarding the purchase. The instruction has demonstrated a further example of the variety of properties which our Building Surveyors inspect and an example of our continued collaborations working for Parish Councils.
