Our people and the service they provide are the reason we retain clients. That is why we’re trusted to manage everything from complex refurbishments to small domestic projects. At BAS You’ll find a balance of building consultants, architects, surveyors, and other property related expertise, all working collaboratively.

Bradley Smith

Managing Director

BSc (Hons) MRICS
Founding BAS back in 2006, Brad brings nearly 30 years of hands-on experience to the table. He’s worked across every corner of the industry, from banks and developers to the Ministry of Defence and still rolls up his sleeves to project manage, survey, and advise clients of all sizes. Outside work, he’s into sailing, motorsport, and restoring classic cars.

Lauren Robbins

Director

BSc (Hons) MRICS
Lauren joined BAS Property Consultants in July 2020, bringing over 15 years’ experience as a Chartered Building Surveyor across a range of disciplines. She has a particular passion for dilapidations, acting for both Landlords and Tenants. Outside of work, she loves caring for her cats, joining friends for dog walks, long-distance running, and dance classes—what she lacks in talent, she makes up for in enthusiasm!

James is a chartered architect who’s delivered everything from Oxford college refurbishments to high-end residential schemes. He listens, designs thoughtfully, and brings calm to even the trickiest builds. He’s also a sports fan and family man, and he loves seeing projects come to life.

Geoff West

Head of Projects

BSc (Hons) Grad Dip MRICS
Geoff leads our project delivery with 12 years of experience managing new builds and refurbishments. He’s the rock-solid, safe pair of hands you want when deadlines are tight and standards matter. Off-site, he’s into American Football, and is probably cheering on the Green Bay Packers or spending time with his family.

Rob Shadbolt

Director

BSc (Hons) PG Dip MRICS
Rob joined BAS August 2025 and has worked across the south coast and home counties for 20+ years. Graduating from UWE in 2003 he added a PGDip in historic building conservation in 2014. Rob’s skillset extends across the full range of building surveying services, including dilapidations, party wall, contract admin/project management, design and technical due diligence. When not at work, Rob competes in his first car, rides his horse, cycles and wishes the year away to get back on the slopes.

Nick Miles

Associate Director

BSc (Hons) MRICS
Nick joined the firm in August 2025. With nearly 20 years of experience in the surveying industry working, Nick’s enthusiasm and knowledge for building surveying extends across the full range of services, delivered to a wide range of clients across the UK. Core experience include dilapidations, building pathology, technical due diligence, project work, business development and exploring the use of new technology in surveying. Outside of work, Nick is a keen DIY’er, enjoys paddle boarding, field target shooting and photography using both drones and traditional digital cameras.

Eugenie Konig

Head of People

Assoc. CIPD
Eugenie joined BAS Property Consultants Ltd as the Head of People, tasked with establishing an HR department. Prior to this, she worked as a freelance HR consultant across Hampshire and Sussex. With 15 years of experience in Human Resources, Eugenie has also held a senior HR role at a renowned theatre in Sussex and a Trust and Fund company in the Channel Islands. Outside of work, Eugenie enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, and running.

Sophia Heighway

Building Surveyor

MSc. (Hons) MRICS
Sophia joined BAS in 2023 and is a recently qualified Chartered Building Surveyor bringing seven years of experience to the Building Consultancy Team, Sophia assists clients in preparing a range of survey reports including commercial building surveys, pre-acquisition surveys, and reinstatement cost assessments. She specialises in preparing reports on behalf of Leaseholders seeking to defend Section 20 service charges. Outside of work Sophia enjoys spending time with her cocker spaniel and long walks exploring the New Forest.

Andy Strugnell

Head of Health & Safety Compliance

Andy’s spent 33 years in health and safety and knows the CDM regs inside out. He works across the company and with clients to keep everything compliant, from method statements to site inspections. In his downtime, he’s strumming a guitar or hanging out with his dogs, both with mixed results.

Hannah Power

Marketing & Operations Manager

Hannah joined us in 2024 with a background in housing, property, and, before that, marketing for big names like Xbox and Disney. She even had a stint as a flight attendant, so she knows how to keep calm under pressure. She loves her Peloton, a decent bottle of wine, and the odd cruise.

Andrew focuses on the early stages of design, helping clients shape ideas and navigate planning. He’s worked across the UK and brings 15 years of architectural experience to the team. He’s a fan of quiet cafés, a good book, and ambitious DIY projects.

Figan Dastan

Architectural Assistant

With a background in restoration and fine art, Figan brings a unique perspective to architectural design. She’s worked on archaeological digs, created installations at the Venice Biennale, and has a keen interest in traditional crafts. When not at work, she’s paddle boarding, making art, or capturing tiny details through her camera lens.

Joel MacDonald

Consultant

BSc (Hons) MRICS
With 25 years of experience, Joel covers everything from contract admin to party walls and acquisition surveys. He brings calm, clarity, and a good sense of humour, even when he’s knee-deep in defect reports. Weekends involve sports, crafts, and plenty of time with his kids (even if it’s not always the sport he’d choose!).
